Michael Tyler

President & CEO

Sandy River Company

Michael Tyler, a University of Maine graduate with a degree in Business Administration – Accounting, has been a key figure in Maine’s healthcare industry for over 40 years.

From 1980 to 1987, he held financial leadership roles at Northeast Health/Penobscot Bay Medical Center before joining Sandy River Health System, where he played a pivotal role in expanding its portfolio from two to eleven healthcare facilities, overseeing 1,600 employees. As President, he led the development of long-term care facilities, including Maine’s first brain injury rehab center, a home care business, and a children’s daycare.

Following Genesis HealthCare’s acquisition of Sandy River in 2007, Michael served as VP of Development before transitioning to a consulting role in 2015. Today, he leads Sandy River Company, a healthcare consulting and development firm, which has spearheaded assisted living, skilled nursing, and independent living projects in Maine and Massachusetts. His firm also served as Emergency Receiver for struggling long-term care facilities at the State of Maine’s request.

Michael has held leadership positions in industry organizations, including Chairman of the Maine Health Care Association, and was appointed to the Maine State Workforce Board by Governor Mills. He has also advised state leadership, serving on transition teams for Governors Angus King and Paul LePage.

A resident of Camden, Maine, Michael and his wife, Nadene, have seven children and eleven grandchildren. Passionate about community engagement, he has been instrumental in expanding youth ice hockey, ensuring access for all children, regardless of financial circumstances.

Find The Cause Breast Cancer Foundation

Michael is a retired financial services executive with a background in commercial real estate lending and banking. Raised in Granby, CT, he earned a finance degree from Bryant College before launching his career at Old Stone Bank (1983-1987), where he completed formal credit training and managed corporate and real estate lending across New England.

From 1987-2003, Michael was a partner at Boston Mortgage Capital Corp, leading Northeast operations for institutional real estate investments. He then served as Head of National Originations at Deutsche Bank Berkshire Mortgage (2003-2009), overseeing $5B+ in annual loan originations and a $26B+ servicing portfolio across multifamily, senior housing, and healthcare facilities.

As EVP, Chief Lending Officer at Cambridge Savings Bank (2010-2023), Michael helped grow assets from $2.5B to $6B, building teams and systems to support corporate, SBA, and commercial real estate lending, with a focus on multifamily and senior housing.

Now dedicated to philanthropy, Michael serves as Board Chair of Find The Cause Breast Cancer Foundation, raising $1.1M annually for cancer prevention research. He is also a Trustee of the Brewster Conservation Trust, supporting local land preservation efforts.

Gerry Gallin

Senior Living Advocate &
Former Executive Director

With 30+ years in senior living and aging services, Gerry Gallin has dedicated her career to helping families navigate the complexities of aging with dignity and care.

She began as President & Owner of Senior Lifestyle Management (SLM), providing geriatric care management before transitioning into senior living leadership roles at ADS Senior Living, Benchmark Senior Living, Salmon Senior Living, and Salter Healthcare. She also served as Executive Director at Newton Senior Living (now Atria Senior Living).

In 2009, Gerry joined The Northbridge Companies, where she helped drive the organization’s growth—leading Avita of Needham and Avita of Newburyport before becoming Corporate Marketing Liaison, supporting Northbridge communities. Even after stepping down in 2015, she consulted on expansion projects until 2022.

Since 2022, Gerry has focused on private geriatric care management and senior placement services, guiding families across New England in making informed long-term care decisions. A trusted industry leader, she remains committed to ensuring seniors receive the best possible support throughout their aging journey.
